With a forge in my luggage
Normally, craftsmen work alone in their interests . That's why I find it essential to seek out opportunities from time to time and participate in events and happenings of all kinds.
I especially enjoy visiting schools and children's festivals and allowing guests to experience crafts up close and even try making something small, a hook, a nail or a simple necklace.
For two decades now, I have been regularly popping up with my traveling smithy in my luggage here and there around the country and middle earth, and hopefully more places will be added to the list before long. Below are some snapshots that you might find interesting to look at.
The Christmas market by Elliðavatn lake
The Reykjavík Forestry Association hosts the Christmas Market at Elliðavatn every year. There is always a lot on offer during Advent for visitors and pedestrians, a café, singing, dancing and readings. A wide variety of crafts are for sale at reasonable prices and various events in the style of Santa Claus and a blacksmith add a fun touch to the market and to the young and old who visit this wonderful place.

The Forest Games in Furulundur - Heiðmörk
In Furulundur in Heiðmörk, the Reykjavík Forestry Association holds the annual Forest Games. There is a varied program for children and adults. There are competitions in axe-slinging and pole climbing, and the kids can whittle wood or chew some straws if they feel like it.
I set up my traveling smithy in a good location and showed visitors and passersby the craft and the techniques of construction. For the most interested, I made a leaf and roasted delicious almonds with a sweet heartache.

Visited Dalskóli school in Úlfarsárdalur
I visited the kids at Dalskóli in the winter of 2016. We were very lucky with the weather, even though it was cold, and we had a great time at the workshop, where the focus and joy shone from every face, as the pictures clearly show. After that, panbread was served and everyone enjoyed fire-baked lummur for dessert. Thank you!

Visited Breiðagerðisskóli School
It was a special experience for me to visit Breiðagerðisskóli. I was a student there in the late 14th century, and much has changed since then. This time I was not sent to the principal for a check-up, but was given free rein and settled in a grove behind the school with the traveling workshop and various treasures. A number of children came to visit and were guided through the crafts, tools and raw materials' that were on display. After that, they were introduced to the coals and given concise instructions on how to make a fire. It should be noted that unfortunately no one got burned.
